As the United Nations lumbers unenthusiastically next week into its latest climate summit in Cancún, Mexico, several Asian nations are viewing with glee the prospect of extracting tens of billions of dollars in 'climate mitigation' funds.
At the meeting, known as COP16, China is not expected to seek large amounts of money for itself, but it has recently made withering criticisms about the West's climate change stance, which will encourage China's smaller neighbors.
In a recent book "Low-Carbon Plot: The Life and Death War Between China and the West", by Gou Hongyang, the author wrote that the West's desire to cut global carbon dioxide emissions is chiefly concerned with stifling growth of developing economies.
