It is time to reveal the truth about the XII District, which contrary to popular belief is not just a residential suburb. National forest reserves form part of the Buda Hills range, and covers most of the area. It is known as the Hill Region for good reason. A string of hills Mártonhegy, Istenhegy, Svábhegy, Széchényihegy, Jánoshegy, embrace the district.
The XII District offers many recreational activities, although most tourists are unaware of this well kept secret. It is a nature lover’s paradise with an abundance of walking and cycle paths, breathtaking scenery, and cafés, restaurants, all of which ensure a wonderful day’s outing. It is well known to locals who flock to the hills on weekends but remains virtually deserted during the week, and is well worth a visit to recharge a tired body, and a weary soul.
